Current Partnerships

Close Up is honored to partner with a variety organizations and individuals who help enhance the educational experience of our programs.

Close Up programs help students and teachers engage with policy and media experts, advocacy and NGO leaders, and educational institutions to gain insights on history, government, and public policy. Either by collaborating with Close Up on our DC-based programs, creating a specialized program or serving students locally in their communities, our program partners help provide opportunities that help young people better understand and critically think about the important issues facing our democracy.

Programing and Educational Partnerships

Our unique educational partnerships in Washington, DC, provide participants with critical insights from education, media, and policy experts.

We draw on the expertise of our many partner institutions to provide guest speakers, demonstrations, and simulations designed to provide unique first-hand learning experiences for students and educators on program.

Utilizing partnership workshops, seminars, and on-site study visits, teachers gain valuable tools and resources to bring back to the classroom as well as opportunities for academic and professional development.

Local Programing

Close Up local programs were created to allow students and teachers to focus solely on state and local government issues by implementing programs in state capitals across the country.

Our middle school programs are designed to bring the democratic process alive for students by providing hands-on opportunities to examine the history and government of their state and deepen their understanding of how the three branches of government interact.  Our high school programs provide students the opportunity to research and develop robust investigations into issues they identify in their communities, generate new policies or amendments, and meet with public officials and stakeholders to advance their Youth Agenda for Action.

Through these locally-based initiatives, we help students begin to develop the skills needed to make a difference in their own communities. To learn how you can work together with us in creating a local program, please contact us at
