Customize a Virtual Program

Our virtual programs are designed to be flexible, making them easily adaptable to any schedule or learning goal. All programs are facilitated by Close Up instructors, who are experts in leading student discussions, building inclusive communities, and connecting students to the world around them.

Select from one of our pre-designed programs or collaborate with our team to shape your own program. Here are a few examples of how schools partner with Close Up:

  • Capstone Project Week (J-Term for 100 9th Graders): In a week-long community engagement program based on the IMPACT curriculum, students work in teams to address a national issue and design an action plan.
  • Reimagining a DC Trip (8th Grade Class): Rather than travel, students meet virtually to investigate key issues, participate in a legislative simulation, and speak with their member of Congress.
  • Grade-Wide Retreat (10th and 11th Graders): This program launches the school year, giving students opportunities to talk about social and political issues, develop a sense of civic responsibility, and learn to facilitate important discussions in their community.
  • Teacher Training and Program Curriculum: Close Up trains teachers to use our action-civics curriculum in a four-week program for their high school students.

Over 93% of students said Close Up’s virtual programs…

helped them understand the importance of using their voice to make change in their communities.
